DÍA 4 EN ALICANTE

7/2/2016

On Thursday we arrived in Alicante after our flights to Madrid and then to Alicante. The school sent a bus to pick us up at the airport and brought us right to the school where some of the students were waiting for us. With the change of periods, all of the students met up after not seeing each other since September. It was a happy reunion. After an introduction by one of the administrators and a welcome snack, everyone went to their respective houses to get settled and meet the host families.

Our first full day (Friday) in Alicante was spent focused on archeology. We went in the tram to Lucentum and then to the MARQ, a museum that specializes in archeology. From there, we went to the more modern part of Alicante and saw the municipal market. The rest of the day, they spent the day with their host families and other students from the program.

Saturday and Sunday were family days. Yesterday was carnival here in Alicante, so I look forward to hearing about their weekends. On Monday, no special activities are planned with the school, but on Tuesday and Wednesday we'll be visiting a nearby city, Elche and then to Madrid on Wednesday for the day.

We had two smooth flights and a bus ride to the school. The school welcomed us and they got reconnected with their Spanish counterparts. Then the students had the first experience in a Spanish high school. Everyone is with their host families.
